If I were Peter Mutharika

President of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), I would not be offended by my party’s secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey’s proposal for an early convention to replace me because soon after the June 23 Fresh Presidential Election, I hinted at retiring from active politics.

Above all, I would appreciate that she is entitled to her personal opinion.

Oh yes, if I were Adadi I would realise that my reaction protrayed signs of political intolerance which should not be the case in this day and age.

How I wish I were APM, because I would realise that in a democracy, people will not always agree with you and that is why dada Jeffrey, who has been loyal to me, spoke her mind, which she thought is good for the party.

If I were the former president of the Republic of Malawi, I would learn that as a leader I should tolerate criticism and dissenting views.

If only I were Adadi, I would open up to suggestions that the party needs to open up to new ideas and allow new leadership to give the party a new lease of life.

That is if I were adadi, but I am not the good ole man of the ndiwanyenyanyenya fame.
